Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for coalition administrative details/oversight, program planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategies implemented under the Northland Coalition and those coalitions in Ray County, Missouri. The position is responsible for project development, community mobilizing, grant/budget management, identifying and tracking outcomes/evaluations, and comprehensive reports, under oversight of the Manager of Prevention and Wellness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting coalitions with necessary administrative duties as needed:
  • Meeting reminders to volunteer prior to monthly meetings, committee meetings and events.
  • Maintain social networking sites/venues and coalition websites
  • Help to organize/implement all Coalition events and programs
  • Actively recruits members and develops strategies for volunteer maintenance
  • Coordinate and assist with coalition fundraising programs/projects
  • Preparation of agendas and/or taking minutes when needed
  • Maintains/updates Coalition notebooks, display boards and rosters
  • Provides administrative assistance to the Manager of Prevention to ensure success of TCMHS prevention programs and assists the Youth Prevention Specialist and other Prevention Specialists with programs as needed (as determined by the Manager of Prevention Services).
  • Assists Manager of Prevention with DMH-DBH contract deliverables to include assisting with the annual Tobacco Retailer Education visits and assisting with Synar tobacco checks.
  • Assists with Coalitions and agency program development using evidence-based strategies, and following the CSAP recommended strategies and Principles of Effectiveness.
  • Helps with grant programs, or prevention department special projects, as well as the Coalitions programs (i.e. Prevention Conference, Legislative Forum, and Resilience programs/campaigns.
  • Serves as Tri-County’s MHS, “Ambassador of Goodwill” within the community.
  • Assists designated Coalitions with submitting necessary state/federal reports, or other funding reporting mandates (i.e. DBH mini-grant mid-year and final reports, DFC and Tax Levy grants and reports).
  • Assists Manager of Prevention Services with information needed to secure grants.
  • Serves as primary contact for the Northland and Ray County Coalitions as well as smaller Ray County coalitions.
  • Helps secure local resources for designated coalitions and agency prevention programs/activities, under the direction of the Manager of Prevention Services.
  • Other duties and/or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Exemplify prevention professional ethics to include role modeling healthy choices(i.e. non-smoker, responsible alcohol consumption and no use of illegal drugs).

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, social sciences, or a related field

Required Certification:

  • Missouri Substance Abuse Prevention Associate certification (or obtain within 9 months of employment).
  • Valid Driver’s License and minimum state required auto insurance
  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Required Experience:

  • One year of Prevention-related experience and/or grant management in a similar field.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of education and the techniques used in youth prevention, preferably with an emphasis in health sciences or community dynamics.
  • Advanced communication/presentation skills; strong attention to detail, proficient in designing and creating attractive promotional materials for programs.
  • Competency of social networking mediums (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube), website content development and management.

Additional Requirements:

  • The ability to travel overnight as needed for projects/training.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some early morning and/or evening hours and occasional Saturdays, as needed per specials requests.
