Description

POSITION SUMMARY

In cooperation with the assigned school district, provides clinical behavioral health services and related support to students and their families within the assigned school district. The position serves as an active team member of a School Based Trauma Informed Care Team to address student and family functioning.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provision of services will include, but not limited to: assessment individual/family therapy, support groups, referral and coordination for additional services, crisis evaluation, resource and referral assistance to appropriate services within Tri-County and the community.
  • Coordinates family and team staffing for challenging cases, utilizing independent judgment and decision-making regarding recommendations for services on behalf of the agency.
  • Coordinates referral for services for youth and families based on assessment of need.
  • Provides support and education to school staff as needed.
  • Coordinates Professional Development services at individual school sites functioning.
  • Provides crisis intervention to students experiencing a psychiatric crisis and utilize professional judgment in determining intervention needed, including the need for hospitalization or residential treatment if appropriate.
  • Serves as a liaison with all community partners to include but is not limited to, Children’s Division, Kansas City Regional Office, and Juvenile Offices as needed to provide resources.
  • Coordinates expansion of psycho-educational services at individual school sites.
  • Assists school district in areas of staff development training and/or education for parents regarding behavioral health issues.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Master’s Degree required in a Social Services field
  • LPC/LCSW, provisionally licensed required
  • CPR & First Aid Training required
  • Annual TB screening required​​​​​​
  • Active Driver's license and state mandated minimum auto insurance required.

Experience Required:

  • 1 to 3 years of prior related experience required
  • 3 to 5 years of prior related experience preferred

Required Knowledge:

  • Prior experience or course work specifically related to youth/adolescents
  • Training in trauma informed care

Skills/Abilities:

  •  ​​​​​​​​​Ability to utilize critical thinking in order to provide appropriate clinical interventions to consumers involved with treatment courts.
  •  ​​​Problem solve independently issues related to housing and housing crisis, finding community resources to assist with basic needs, in emergency situations and with all matters  of significance.
  • The ability to strongly advocate for consumers in regards to receiving proper health care
  • The ability to effectively use the EMR (Electronica Medical Record) to complete progress notes within the three (3) day required timeframe which clearly and accurately document the  interventions   provided as well as medical necessity of those interventions.
  • The ability to meet the four (4) hour per day productivity requirement.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
  • The ability to travel locally within the school district as assigned.
