Description

Position Summary

Coordinates youth prevention strategies and implement programing in schools with School Based, Trauma Informed Care Team. Duties include coalition building, assessment, strategic planning, program planning/implementation and evaluation in partnership with the school district and agency partners.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates prevention efforts across school districts. Helps organize, implement and evaluate prevention activities.
  • Provides educational presentations to community groups and students and families in school and community.
  • Provides necessary documentation for completion of required agency, state, and regional logs and reports for all Department of Behavioral Health mandated reporting of designated prevention coalitions in Clay and Platte Counties.
  • Works in collaboration with School Based Trauma Informed Care Team to ensure quality, comprehensive care.
  • Completes documentation and all other required paperwork in accordance with agency policy and guidelines.
  • Helps coordinate programs with other Community Prevention Specialists and promote at the local prevention coalition level.
  • Other duties and/or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • MSAP Credentialed or obtained within 6 months of hire.

  • Completion of SAPST course within 9 months of hire date.

  • Valid Driver’s License and minimum state-required auto insurance

Experience Required:

  • No prior experience required, but 1-2 years prior related experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of education and the techniques used in youth prevention preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced communication/presentation skills; strong attention to detail, Proficient in designing and creating attractive promotional materials for programs.

  • Competency of social networking mediums used to connect with teens (i.e.: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr).

  • Website content development and management.

Additional Requirements:

The ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some early morning and/or evening hours and occasional Saturdays, as needed per specials requests.
