Description

Position Summary

Coordinates resilience building strategies and implements programing in schools with School Based, Trauma Informed Care Team. Duties include program development and implementation of resilience-building efforts within schools and the community.  Focuses on strategic planning, group education, program evaluation, and development of partnerships within the assigned school district and agency partners. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates resilience-building efforts across school districts. Helps organize, implement and evaluate resilience-building activities
  • Provides educational presentations to students and families in school and community.
  • Works in collaboration with School Based Trauma Informed Care Team to ensure quality, comprehensive services.
  • Completes documentation and all other required paperwork in accordance with agency policy and guidelines.
  • Coordinates with prevention specialists inside and outside the agency to ensure individual, school, and community-wide needs are met. 
  • Other duties and/or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Driver’s License and minimum state-required auto insurance
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Annual TB Testing

Experience Required:

  • 1-2 years prior related experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of education and the techniques used in emotion regulation, and the principles of trauma informed care practices and resilience building strongly preferred. 
  • Understanding of the prevalence and impact of trauma on students, families, schools, and the larger community system.
  • Understanding of lifespan development specific to school age youth in grades K-12.
  • Awareness of how protective factors contribute to increased resilience in those who have experienced traumatic events.
  • Awareness of successful outcomes related to the implementation of trauma informed processes in educational environments.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced communication/presentation skills; strong attention to detail, Proficient in designing and creating attractive promotional materials for programs.
  • Competency in using social networking mediums used to connect with youth (i.e.: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr).
  • Ability to successfully work through a team oriented perspective in collaboration with school districts and agency partners.

Additional Requirements:

The ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some early morning and/or evening hours and occasional Saturdays, as needed per specials requests.
